Butler and Sawyer School Students Urged to Contact Office of Higher Education for Assistance

The State of Connecticut's Office of Higher Education is urging students impacted by the sudden closure of the Butler Business School in Bridgeport, and The Sawyer Schools in Hamden and Hartford, to register their contact information by visiting or contacting the Education & Employment Information Center at 1/800-842-0229



2012 CT Medal of Technology Awarded to UConn Engineering Professor Yaakov Bar-Shalom for Pioneering Work in Radar & Sonar Surveillance

Dr. Yaakov Bar-Shalom of the University of Connecticut will receive the 2012 Connecticut Medal of Technology for his pioneering advancements in radar and sonar technology, and his significant contributions to strengthening the nation's defense and air transport systems as well as Connecticut's role in sonar research and development.  Bar-Shalom is the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Marianne E. Klewin Endowed Professor in Engineering.



Five Students and Faculty from Connecticut Colleges Honored for Community Service

Five students and faculty from Connecticut colleges and universities were honored for their exemplary service to their communities at an awards ceremony held last night (April 24) at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain. The awards were made by William R. Dyson, chair of the Connecticut Commission on Community Service, and Jane A. Ciarleglio, Executive Director of the Office of Financial and Academic Affairs for Higher Education, at a dinner attended by 180 students, faculty and administrators at Central's Memorial Hall.



CT Colleges Named to President's Honor Roll for Community Service

The Corporation for National and Community Service has named 14 Connecticut’s colleges and universities to the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal distinction an institution of higher education can receive for its commitment to bettering their communities through community service and service learning.
